
What I offer
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
I provide therapy for individuals above the age of 18. I mainly provide adult individual therapy but I welcome spouses/partners or other family members to attend the sessions if the person in concern is comfortable with that setting. It is usually beneficial to involve family members in your therapy process for support and resolve conflicts, as needed.
MY APPROACH
INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEM (IFS)
As a therapist, Iām drawn to approaches that resonates with me. IFS focuses on understanding different parts within us who work full time to protect our core self from difficult emotions -anger, hurt, sadness, shame etc, by engaging in various coping strategies that may or may not be helpful. Our work in IFS is building the strength of our core self so that it can process the difficult emotions by itself without other parts of us trying to build walls, avoiding the emotions, or even masking the emotions at times.
ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)
ACT is a mindfulness based therapy that taught me the significance of being here and now. Letting the thoughts pass us by, observing them, without getting latched on to the content of those thoughts. In addition, it puts a gret emphasis on the values that we hold dear to us and can use as a guiding map to gain motivation and strengthen our decision-making skills. ACT works perfectly with IFS because ACT assists us in building mindfulness based coping strategies to deal with our distressing mental health symptoms and explore our values whereas IFS takes the therapy a step ahead by healing us from within for a longer term.
For example - We can learn to cope with self-blame thoughts by practicing mindfulness. Once we feel confident with our coping strategies, we will begin understanding the meaning behind the self blame thoughts to get better understanding of ourselves and release us from staying stuck in such thoughts.
Even though I mention only IFS and ACT here, I tailor my interventions to fit your needs because no one person is the same therefore no one therapy treatment for one client is same as the other client. In addition to above mentioned interventions, I routinely utilize Trauma informed - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
